Is it possible to amend the work schedule of two weeks of working/two weeks off?
Yes, this is possible in certain cases. The Dutch State Supervision of Mines (SSM) temporarily allows changes to the usual schedule of working for two weeks alternated with two weeks off, as stated in the Working Hours Decree (Arbeidstijdenbesluit). This will apply until 1 May 2022, unless the circumstances related to the coronavirus outbreak require other measures.
By lengthening the schedule, the risk of contracting a coronavirus infection is reduced. Section 5.10 of the Working Hours Act (Arbeidstijdenwet) allows for such a different schedule.
Conditions for lengthening the working schedule
Temporarily lengthening the work schedule to three weeks alternated with three weeks off is only allowed under certain conditions.
